Turning my cell phone off.

I have to remember to turn my cell phone off while I am in the church building. The cell phone always makes its noises while I am in church. While I am at home; my cell phone usually goes a long time without making any noises. I don't want to make other people mad at me when my cell phone goes off.

That's good of you to turn your cell phone off in church. It is indeed annoying to be suddenly interrupted in listening to a homily that you are so absorbed about only to be distracted by a ringing cellphone.

I have not got a phone call yet in church. So far; it is only updates of some kind coming to my phone.

I do not blame you for turning off your cell phone when you are in a public place.

So far; the church building is the only place I had to turn my cell phone off at.

For an illustration (my dad’s a pastor), my dad had me call him once in church. We had a code word he’d say in the sermon that would prompt my call. After the service was over I heard a lady ask how on earth someone knew to call at the exact time…

I don't attend church (yes, I know I should), but I have a friend who invariably calls me when I'm right in the middle of somewhere important - doctor's appointments, restaurants, etc, where I don't want to take a call. I answer just long enough to tell them I can't talk and hang up. I know, without question, I'd get the same call if I were in church. I just know it. I always forget to turn my ringer off - and then forget to turn it back on.

I do not have very many people calling me. I get more texts than I do phone calls.

I wish this person would text more often. He KNEW I was at the doctor because I had borrowed his car to go.

@jerzgirl You should ask why he don't text more often.

Then just turn it on vibrate. If you have an iPhone, there's the silent switch, Android it's in the quick settings.

I know how to turn it onto vibrate mode. I just like to turn my phone off every now and then.

Sounds like a good idea. I’m always afraid mine will ring when I in the doctors office, but it hasn’t happened yet.I don’t turn it off because I don’t know when family will call and if I don’t answer they’ll think somethings wrong.

@Scrapper88 Cell phones are good for emergencies if you don’t use them for anything else.

Not very many of my family members calls me on my cell phone. I mainly have the cell phone for if I need to make an important call somewhere.

@Scrapper88 I can understand why you do not want to bother others with the noise of your cell phone. Sometimes I forget to turn my cell phone off. I charge it the next day and will not charge it on our Sabbath or holidays.

I don't really turn my phone off. I just put it in silent-vibrate mode when I'm out or in a place like a Church.
