K and I are watching the Netflix PG-rated romance A Tourist's Guide to Love. The movie is set in Vietnam and was filmed on location in April 2022. The romance part is okay. The best parts of the movie are the scenes that show how far Vietnam has come since the war. Those, and the beautiful countryside they drive through and the incredible historical sites they visit make the movie worth watching. Have you ever watched a movie that changed your perception of a place you've never been?

Yes I have watched a movie like that..like the one about Cambodia. Do not recall the name, but it was not romantic.

@DWDavis I am not sure but this one was about the horrors that happened there. Very horrible not for everyone to see.

@RebeccasFarm Definitely not the movie I was thinking of. The one you watched was, I believe, The Killing Fields about the brutal reign of Pol Pot.

Didn't Eat, Pray, Love include scenes from Cambodia?

Not really, I have watched Miss Saigon, and it is about the fall of Saigon during the Vietnam War. I wish I could watch this movie too. Thanks for the information.

@DWDavis It's a stage play really. It played in London I think, It won the Filipina actress, Lea Salonga, her first Tony Award.

I have not seen Miss Saigon. I imagine it was a very intense movie.

The description of the movie sounds very familiar, but I don’t have Netflix. I think I saw a commercial for it, and I was very interested.

The movie just premiered on Netflix this month. If you get a chance, I recommend watching it.

@DWDavis Hopefully, I can. An intriguing locale can really lure me into a story.

Many different movies and the better ones seem to actually take you to different places,

I know that movies have greatly influenced how I imagine Paris would be. Maybe someday I'll get there and can compare my idea with the real thing. It would probably be a nice place to visit if it weren't for all the Parisians.

I am thinking I must have, but nothing springs to mind, probably because most of the movies I've seen involve lots of things exploding!
