Day 292
(Proverbs 23:19-28) Hear, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart in the way. Do not mix with winebibbers, or with gluttonous eaters of meat. For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and drowsiness will clothe a man with rags. Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom, instruction, and understanding. The father of the righteous greatly rejoices, and he who begets a wise child will delight in him. Let your father and your mother be glad and let her who bore you rejoice. My son, give me your heart and let your eyes observe my ways. For a harlot is a deep pit, and a seductress is a narrow well. She also lies in wait for a victim and increases the unfaithfulness among men.
How many parents try to reason with their children when they get ready to move out on their own? They spent their lives doing their best to raise their children to know right from wrong. As the day approaches for the child to go his way, the parent gives one last push at reason, hoping the child will listen and do what is right.
Solomon was not only a king, but he was also a father. He instilled wisdom and instruction in his children as well as the nation. He told his son to stay away from people with a bad reputation and to treat his parents with respect so they would have joy in him.
Christians also do their best to raise their children according to God’s Word. Many parents are rewarded when their children act with wisdom and give their parents respect. However, not all children act with wisdom. They test their wings when they move away from their parents. When they do, the only thing a parent can do is pray for their children to remember their Christian heritage and the God who loves them. As children leave home, they need to commit their children to God’s care, employ prayer, and keep the lines of communication open between them. Remember to let go and let God. Then you will see your children act with wisdom and return to God, and you will rejoice in God for keeping your children in His care.
Let’s pray: Father, You know my heart for my children. I place them in Your care as they live their lives. Let them act with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding as they find their way in the world and in Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Amen!
I believe that our children can imitate us under our skin. So, we need to act consciously and pass it on to them. I often pray to Almighty to keep my daughters safe and away from the bad things.
