Yay, I get to chaperone for the first time one of my kid's field trips in 2 weeks. They are going to the national zoo and my middle one got robbed of it when he was in second and third grade because of Covid of course.
I figured I would be picked since my current 2nd grader has food allergies. I wasn't going because of his allergies. I thought he might like having Mommy come with him. I don't do a lot of the school activities and I've never gone with the other two on a field trip because there was either I was babysitting, or my youngest was home and you can't take other siblings with you on a school field trip.

Lol, no! It's a packed lunch day so either way it wouldn't have affected me going or not. My going is purely out of the fact I haven't gone on a field trip with any of my kids. With him being my last child and the other two in school I can go. I have no worries over his food allergies when he isn't with me. He is 8 and very aware of what he can and can't have and ask most people to read labels to him or check to see if it doesn't have what he is allergic to. I do not need to physically advocate for him.
I figured the teacher is more likely to pick me because he is a child with allergies, and he is going somewhere with a large number of people and lots of possible cross-contamination. I'm also one of the class mom's. There is two of us and we are appointed as a helper to the teachers.

@ShyBear88 I seem to read a lot of stories about nervous Nellie moms.

@AmbiePam there are parents like that, he is my 3rd so I don't get nervous about things. I'm more of a relax mom. I do have moments like all parents do where they worry about their child.

I don't think I'll have that much fun. I hope I don't get a few of his classmates that are wild. I've been to the Zoe several times and when I can participate at the kids' school with them, I try to. Its more for them then it is for me.
