Day 316
(Ecclesiastes 11:7-10) Truly the light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to behold the sun. But if a man lives many years and rejoices in them all, yet let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. All that is coming is vanity. Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these God will bring you into judgment. Therefore, remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh, for childhood and youth are vanity.
People love to remember the past for the pleasant memories they bring. No one likes to remember the days of hardship and misery. Yet everyone has more bad days than pleasant days.
Solomon said everything was vanity, but with vanity, you are to rejoice every day, remembering the good and bad days. And in remembering, remember that God will bring everything to judgment, so take away sorrow and get rid of evil.
As Christians, you know what your life was like before you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. You know how bad the days were. When you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, He took the pain of those days from you. He didn’t take the memory of them away. Satan will try to make you feel guilty for your past. Don’t let him. Jesus forgave you, covered you with His blood, and declared you ‘not guilty’. He took the pain away, so don’t dwell on the painful memories, but rejoice because you are free. The past is only memories, the good and the bad. The sorrow is gone.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for taking the pain of bad memories from me. Help me to rejoice because I am covered in Your blood, free from the evil days of my past. Satan can’t harm me. Instead, let me remind Satan of his future when he brings my past before me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
