Day 317
(Song of Solomon 1:1-6) The song of songs, which is Solomon’s. THE SHULAMITE Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth. For your love is better than wine. Because of the fragrance of your good ointments, your name is ointment poured forth. Therefore, the virgins love you. Draw me away!
THE DAUGHTERS OF JERUSALEM We will run after you.
THE SHULAMITE The king has brought me into his chambers. THE DAUGHTERS OF JERUSALEM We will be glad and rejoice in you. We will remember your love more than wine.
THE SHULAMITE Rightly do they love you. I am dark, but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon. Do not look upon me, because I am dark, because the sun has tanned me. My mother’s sons were angry with me. They made me the keeper of the vineyards, but my own vineyard I have not kept.
Many people love a good romance and Solomon doesn’t disappoint with the story about one of his many brides and his love for her. He also set up his story in the format of a script, highlighting who is speaking.
Here we see The Shulamite appeals to The Daughters of Jerusalem to rejoice with her because the king loves her, and they agree.
As Christians have you considered how God romances you? It is no accident you are called the Bride of Christ and Jesus is the Bridegroom.
Paul wrote:
(2 Corinthians 11:2) For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. (NKJV)
John wrote:
(Revelation 19:7-8) “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her, it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
Solomon’s bride prepared herself for him and called the Daughters of Jerusalem to come and celebrate with her, to rejoice with her because the king loved her.
God is preparing a celebration for you, the wedding supper of the Lamb. It will be a feast without comparison because Jesus loves you. He wants you to rejoice over His love for you.
Just as Solomon wrote the story of his love for The Shulamite, God is writing your story about Jesus’ love for you. It is a celebration of love beyond measure because no one loves you more than Jesus.
Have you opened your invitation to the wedding? Your wedding? Are you preparing yourself for your Bridegroom? Have you invited your guests to the feast?
Rejoice because Jesus loves you and calls you to be His bride. He is jealous for you. He wants only the very best for you.
Let’s pray: Father, Your love for me overwhelms me. You not only call me Your child, but You also set me as a bride for Your Son, Jesus, my Savior. His all-encompassing love for me causes me to tremble. I am not worthy, but He made me worthy through His blood. Let me find grace as I prepare my life for my Bridegroom. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Yes I have read this. I learned from it that we should be prepared always for we might be invited to the wedding feast anytime.
