Hospitals in India should change their rules of documentation

In India now there are lot of people old and young who are alone in this world and are fending for themselves. Many people stay alone and have to get hospitalized when they are sick. Now most hospitals in India, especially the private hospitals want some in the family to sign some bonds which a single person at times can't provide. I really don't understand when the person who is being treated is paying for his own treatment why should anyone sign any bond or document on his behalf.
My elder son had a minor operation a last year. He had his insurance which would bear the hospital and surgery expenses. He signed the required documents before going to the OT, yet they wanted someone second person to sign a bond. Since I was not there he had to request one of his colleagues to do so, who did it but reluctantly. Isn't this ridiculous?
If a person who is retired and is all in this world but has the money to look after himself/herself,how is that person going to find someone to sign such bullshit bonds which has no meaning? For if he dies in the hospital no one will come to claim his/her body. So will the hospital deny to treat him just because he has no family members? I think it's high time the government does something about this?

In our place, it's different. Anybody won't be admitted to hospital unless he pays the required amount of deposit.

Here also there is the system of deposit but they always insist on a second person to sign the bond.

@banksim Hospitals are places to cure people of their diseases not just to earn money which is done in India now.

Wow that sounds horrible to me too. If they have insurance that covers it and can afford to pay for the procedure themselves they should not have to get someone to sign for them like that. I bet some people won’t have anyone willing to sign for them and then won’t be able to get the surgery.
