Day 325 (Isaiah 25:1-12) O, LORD, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. For You have made a city a ruin, a fortified city a ruin, a palace of foreigners to be a city no more; it will never be rebuilt. Therefore, the strong people will glorify You; the city of the terrible nations will fear You. For You have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. You will reduce the noise of aliens, as heat in a dry place; as heat in the shadow of a cloud, the song of the terrible ones will be diminished. And on this mountain, the LORD of hosts will make for all people a feast of choice pieces, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of well-refined wines on the lees. And He will destroy on this mountain the surface of the covering cast over all people and the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces; the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; for the LORD has spoken. And it will be said on that day: “Behold, this is our God; we waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the LORD; we waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.” For on this mountain, the hand of the LORD will rest, and Moab will be trampled down under Him, as straw is trampled down for the refuse heap. And He will spread out His hands in their midst as a swimmer reaches out to swim, and He will bring down their pride together with the trickery of their hands. The fortress of the high fort of your walls He will bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, down to the dust. People celebrate when they see justice served, and wickedness thrown down. God gave Isaiah a glimpse of what will happen in the last days, and he praised God and rejoiced because God would not forget His people but bring them salvation and destroy all wickedness from the earth. He would wipe away their tears, destroy death, and reign in Jerusalem forever. As Christians, you long for the day when Jesus returns to live and reign when He will wipe away your tears and destroy death. As Isaiah showed it will happen in the last days, you know those last days encompass the Tribulation. (Revelation 7:13-17) Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So, he said to me, “These are the ones who came out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. They will neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun will not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (Revelation 21:1-5) Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also, there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they will be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There will be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” You can rejoice and be glad because Jesus will return and fulfill the promise to Isaiah for His people. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your many promises, promises not only for me but for Your chosen people. Thank You that You will bring salvation to Your people, just as You brought salvation to the world with the death and resurrection of Your Son, Jesus. Help me to praise You, rejoicing in Your promises and the soon return of Your Son, Jesus. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 3 June 2023 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
