Day 326
(Isaiah 29:17-24) Is it not yet a little while till Lebanon will be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field esteemed as a forest? On that day the deaf will hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind will see out of obscurity and out of darkness. The humble also will increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. For the terrible one is brought to nothing, the scornful one is consumed, and all who watch for iniquity are cut off— Who make a man an offender by a word and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate and turn aside the just by empty words. Therefore, thus says the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: “Jacob will not be ashamed, nor will his face grow pale; but when he sees his children, the work of My hands, in his midst, they will hallow My name, and hallow the Holy One of Jacob, and fear the God of Israel. These also who erred in spirit will come to understanding, and those who complained will learn doctrine.”
Do you feel left out, as though you’re not good enough because you had a hard time in school, things don’t come easily to you? Or you might be left out because people think you’re too intelligent for them. There are also those who are left out because they’re poor, or who their parents are. There are a number of reasons why you don’t fit in with the ‘in’ crowd.
Isaiah said the day was coming when all that would change. Those who didn’t fit in would find joy and rejoice because they could see and hear God’s Word. They would no longer feel ashamed because they would understand and learn.
Many Christians feel the same way as those Isaiah described. They don’t fit in, and try as they might, no one will allow them into the inner circle. You know them by another name, clique. You know you can do the work, but you are continually passed over. You know the answer, but nobody calls on you. Yet, you are there for every service, you show up for every function. You want to fit in.
God sees you. He has a place for you. He will never pass you over. In His hands, you can rejoice and find joy. God will never make you feel shame in His presence. He has work for you to do. You have a place. Turn all your cares over to Him and watch Him find His place for you in His kingdom.
Let’s pray: Father, let Your joy fill me as I praise You and rejoice in You because You have a place for me. Cast shame away from me because You give me understanding. Let me praise You because my joy in You overflows. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
