I went a long time without reading, or reading on a regular basis. Then after watching Ready Player One for the fiftieth time I decided to read the book version and then the second one and that set me back off a renewed passion for reading. After watching the Netflix series I decided I wanted to read the book that inspired the show. I had been following Stephanie Land on the tikkytokky and the book of faces since we started the show, so I found her book pretty quick. The book is based on Stephanie's own life, and it was one of the best, most uplifting and just good books that I have read in YEARS. You know how you just "get" some books or they speak to you in a certain way. This was one of those. I don't think I have liked a book this much since "Where the Heart Is" YEARS ago. Anyway the book is the story of Stephanie's own life, her struggle with leaving her abusive and emotionally abusive boyfriend/baby daddy with her young daughter. It chronicles her fight with the state and getting help as she works her way to a better life being a maid. It's a hundred times better than the show, and the show was amazing. I know several of you myLotter's who I talk to on a regular basis are big readers. I for sure recommend it to you. I recommend it to anyone who is a reader. It is a great feel good story. Even though there are parts of the book that absolutely tear your apart emotionally. Even more so since it's a true story. I have linked the Amazon page for the book in case you are interested in learning more about the book and or story. Have you read this book? What is the most recent book you have read?
