One of my friends kids is getting baptized today and we are one of her godparents. Sometimes people misinterprets what being a Godparent is, some people are getting a godparent just for the money or gifts that they would give your kid, some are for being just a friend and having himself volunteering to be a godparent of your children. But for me being a Godparent is being a second parent of the kid, that in the near future thet can ask you some pieces of advice about their problems, careers and othe things that matters to the kid. You can be his/her crying shoulder when they have problems with their parents and friends. Being a godparent it's not about the money or gifts it's about your presence that matters most. Gifts can be given anytime but your time,effort and your presence before during and after the baptism they will treasure those as a family.
