Often we go for pain killers when our muscles ache but little do we realise it has all got to do with our mental tension. It is not just muscle ache there are so many other physical manifestations when we are tensed up for whatever reason And similar is the situation when we have physical ailments our mind gets affected and we reach for tranquilizers It is therefore necessary to locate the cause of whatever ails us and go for the right treatment Rather than take pain killers when the pain is due to mental tension one should work towards easing that tension and the pain will disappear. How good are you in discerning this?

When the mental tension is uncontrollable, pain killers or sedative have to be used.

One should take care of that which causes the tension and not take pain killers. Pranayam, yoga are suggestions.

I agree. Stress and emotional problems may cause a lot of physical ailments.

I would hope people realize how close muscle tension is related to mental tension, but a lot probably don’t. Tension headaches come to mind especially. My uncle suffered from them for years, and when he couldn’t seem to get ahold of his stress he saw a massage therapist who recommended putting very warm rocks (like pool rocks) on the back of his head and neck. I think a heating pad would work just as well to dissipate the tension though. After that, he no longer had to use muscle relaxers. Of course, I don’t want to put everyone in the same scenario. Some people have health conditions that cause involuntary muscle spasms, and we know that can’t be fixed by mental strength, although I know it always helps when dealing with any illness.

Absolutely. It is not always that those muscle spasms and pains result from mental tension - sciatica for example I used to get cramps because of lack of magnesium in my body That is where discerning plays a part

I am very good at discerning this. I always hated taking pills and look for alternative ways to ease pain. I have developed a very high tolerance for pain because of it and rarely ever complain of pain. The nurses and technicians at the hospital wouldn't believe me when I told them my wrist was broken. I sat calmly as they pokes and prodded at my broken wrist and they were convinced that I had only sprained it because..."If it was broken you'd be in much more pain than your exhibit." ...And then they Xrayed it. Yup. It's broken.

It is such a blessing to have a mind set like yours I too stay away from pills as far as possible When I had an accident I had no other go but to go for them but I stopped even when my doctor had told me to continue
