New Budget

It is now July 1, 2023. How did that happen? When did that happen? I swear it was February last week. I just sat down and finished my June budget and made my July budget. I need to bring home $3,844.33 to pay all of my bills on this month's budget. Last month with everything I managed to bring home $3,093.14 My only thing on my July budget that isn't a bill is my CalmBox subscription ONLY because I can't cancel it. I tried, but it will only cancel after the year. Paying a cancelation fee is not even an option. So I have it set to cancel when my year is up. I have a storage unit that is costing me $400 this month because I'm playing catch up. My goal is to have it gone by September. My car insurance is low this month because it is the month before it renews so it is low. I am hoping that my premium is less for the next 6 months once it renews. I know it should drop in February when my "on purpose" I was involved in falls off. I got a copy of my credit report and learned that I have hit my first credit score milestone a few months early so that has been my good news for the month. Work opened up OT for a few days this past week so I took all of it and that will help with getting these bills caught up. They also offered it one day this coming week and I took all of it also. If there is OT available, I am signed up for it always. It looks like I will have $250 left after paying all of my bills for the 1st half of the month that I can keep paying towards the rest of my bills. My 2nd half of the month is always the most expensive because that is when rent comes out. I have until the 5th of the month but prefer to pay it before the end of the month. I'm also tracking how much each of my side things brings in. Here, InstaCart, DoorDash, Upside, Fetch points, Bing points, and plasma. Now if I could just find something else to add in. I avoid DoorDash if I can because of my car insurance. If my kid's had a reliable schedule I'd go get a 2nd job but their schedules change weekly.

It can be hectic and stressful to meet the financial obligations and stick to the budget. Today, I did clear few of the bills that need to be paid by the first week of the month. I have few pending that need to be paid by mid of the month. How old are your children?

I have 3. They are now 15, 17, 18. The 15 and 17 yr olds are in my profile picture. That was taken clear back in 2010 when we lived in Wyoming. We've lived in Wyoming a couple times.

@fatragu Oh! I see. I checked your profile picture. They look adorable! I have two daughters..19 and 17.Elder one has moved out last year to a college campus in different state. Right now she is here to enjoy the semester break for a month. She will leave on 15th of this month. Younger one would graduate from High school next March.

I have 4 years to be 100% debt free so I can start my new career, or rather go back to a previous career, with less worries. My income is going to almost triple and my goal is to work on my savings challenges and put as much towards my retirement as I can. I am 40 with no retirement savings at all. Part of my journey will be setting money aside for when my kids need something they can call me and I can pay for it and they can make interest free payments to me.

It seems you are well organized with your budget. K is the same way. I'm not so great at it. I hope you meet your financial goals for this month.

I am hoping to get to the 50/30/20 budget eventually. Right now I am a mix between 0 Dollar, paycheck budgeting, and monthly budgeting. I figure it will take me 4 years before I am in the 50/30/20 budget range. My goal is that as I post things it can help others. I'm glad K has a handle on it. I just learned about this method at 40 years old.
