My daughter ordered some Rita's treats for us the other day. If you've never had frozen custard, you need to try some. It's so much different than just soft ice cream (athough that is good, too).
She got the Apple Pie Concrete for both of us. It is a new product. Vanilla custard mixed with apple pie filling and pie crust chips. The other option was one with strawberry, but I don't like strawberry. I do like apple pie and I like it with ice cream, so I thought this might just be a nice treat.
OMG!! It was so ungodly sweet!!! I have no idea why the apple pie portion was so danged sweet! I had to make sure I got plenty of vanilla custard with the apple pie in order to get past the sweet.
Next time, just get me vanilla custard. Or, a gelati which is layered water ice and custard. I like the brownie water ice with vanilla custard. It's surprisingly good.

Never tasted a frozen custard. I can't take anything too sweet. Being a diabetic all my life, I always controlled the intake of sugar. Now my taste buds can't tolerate if it is too sweet.

Frozen custard is like soft ice cream, but churned more slowly to avoid the formation of ice crystals, so it's a much smoother texture as well as flavor. I am also diabetic, but do partake of sweets on occasion if there is also protein. Milk contains protein. But, I was hard-pressed to even taste apple.

@arunima25 I agree. And we don't beat ourselves up over the periodic failure as long as we go back to the proper behavior.

@jerzgirl That sounds delicious!! I would definitely try once I come across them anywhere. Being diabetics, we have to choose our food carefully. We can enjoy everything as long as we do it in moderation.

@Deepizzaguy The closest thing I know of is Italian Gelato. That's thicker, but the tongue texture and taste is very similar. Just way more expensive.
