I am trying to build my credit score so I can eventually buy my first home. I am at 501 which is huge for me. A few years ago it was in the 300s. I am already using Self and Kickoff and a really crappy credit card. Does anyone have any ideas of things I can do to raise my credit score? I've heard taking a small personal loan of $1,000 and paying it off and then repeating gradually getting larger can work but I am unable to get a loan with my credit score right now. So I'm looking for ideas. I downloaded another credit builder app but it wanted to charge $10/month to use the service on top of your monthly payment for the loan you take out. Which isn't actually a loan, you pay in and then at the end of the term you get the money you paid in returned to you. They also offered an instant cash deposit but all it showed on the acceptance page was the payment amount due monthly but not the length of the loan repayment so I deleted that app.
