Car Maintenance

July 10, 2023 10:55am CST
One of my mylot friends had said something about car maintenance and I thought about it for awhile and decided to make this post. Do you guys do your own maintenance or do you go to a garage for it. Before hubbys surgery he did almost everything. Plugging tires, changing oil, he could replace just about everything, the starter, the radiator. But he also likes to jerry rig things too. Take now, for instance. I'm not grumbling because I know right now he really can't do anything bcuz of his surgery, but right now, my car doesn't like to start. It will once in awhile and it's so nice when it starts on it's own. When it doesn't, I have to pop the hood, open the hood and hold a wire between the starter and battery. It's not hard to do, it's just aggravating.

Before PJ (hubby) got real sick and disabled we would do everything ourselves. I know more about fixing and taking apart a car then a lot of people because he taught me it all. I had a car like that where I had to wires sticking out the grill and twisted them together to start the car.

Ha!! I should tell my kids to do that for me so that I don't have to raise the hood everytime I leave the house or the grocery store, gas station. Etc.

When I was a kid I was a major tomboy. So, as I got a little older I’d do minor things on my car (like the oil change). Now? Pull it into the dealership and go to lunch. When I get back, everything’s done.

I've always been a bit of a girly girl. Even to this day I don't want to get messy and when I do I have to shower as soon as I can.

My dad used to change the oil in my car, and he’s always known how to fix the small things, but as he has aged he takes it to a professional now.

Yeah, hubby is 65 and with his surgery not long ago he hasn't been able to do a lot. But he did pass the knowledge down to our sons.

I'm sorry your hubby can't work on your car anymore. I take my car to a mechanic.

That would be aggravating. We mostly take it in for repairs and service. Hubby does a few things.

Hubs used to change the oil; but that's eons ago. Now that he's older, the dealership does all of the maintenance. How is your hubby doing? Have a great day.

We take them anymore. There is so much on them that it's a headache to do at home
