Tomatina festival in Spain

Ironic it may sound while India was starved of tomatoes with prices soaring Spain has been throwing tomatoes at each other during their Tomatina Festival. Around 20,000 people from all over the globe take part in the festival and it is reported that around 120 metric tonnes of tomatoes are used. In India colour is thrown at each other during the Holi festival. But waste of tomatoes is not something one can easily digest What say? It must really annoy people who really love that food, and also that hate waste. Quite frankly, in this day and age, I’m surprised they have continued this festival.
