I was born in '78 and I had the privilege to enjoy the Nintendo Game&Watch. The Philippines economy in the 80s was considerably difficult. And a Nintendo game&watch was not cheap. But my parents would reward us whenever we excelled in school. The first one we got was an octopus because my sister was first in her class! The 5 of us shared! Oh I must say 6 because my father also played. The second one was the tropical fish. I think it was mine. A present from my godmother. Then we had the two screened one, I think it was Donkey Kong. I really love the 80s and the 90s. And I really love Nintendo. That's why I have a Nintendo switch now and still plays Mario.

I love playing donkey Kong. One of my friends had it. I’d play it at arcades sometimes too.

Back in the 80s we didn't have an arcade in this city. I remember when I went to school and would bring my game n watch, I would exchange with my classmates for a couple of days. Some students would have theirs rented by other students for a day.

@toniganzon I had many game systems that I played at home, just not the one you referred to in your discussion. And yes, I spent a lot of my free time at the arcade. It was where all the kids hung out.

Good memories indeed. Compared to the games right now, those were simple ones. That's why I love my Nintendo switch now. It reminds me of the 80s and 90s. My son is into playstation.

We used to have that one! I kinda missed Octopus... the other one was ... I forgot the title, but it was Mickey mouse catching eggs! I remember my hands started to ache after playing the game for too long. LOL!

Oh yes they were really quite fun! But we really couldn't play for too long. That's why I never really experienced aching hands. We enjoyed playing outside more. The only time we played for hours was when game consoles were introduced in the 90s. The family computer. And there came the playstation.

My daughter had a Super Nintendo and we had Donky Kong 1, 2 and 3 as well as Super Mario. Donky Kong 2 was my favorite. I love the soundtrack.

I don't know why for some reason, I don't like donkey kong. So even now with my Nintendo switch, I didn't get the donkey kong game.

Games were few and far between those days but more aesthetically pleasing to the senses. Nowadays, they have got so complex that I lose patience to learn the ropes of a new title. Not to mention how resource hogging they are, and need a large range of premium hardware pieces to actually function at all.
