A very good morning to all of you I took a few days off from myLot because I had to set up house. We moved in to our city apartment last Friday and I kept busy tidying up, taking notes of what items to discard or bring in, and how to basically manage things in a tiny flat. My kids and I have never experienced living in a small place so this would be quite a challenge for us. I'm excited to take on the task anyway and the girls don't mind the limited space either. We stay in the city only during the weekdays for work and school. We're back here in our big country house for an extended weekend. It's Monday and the husband is working from home because there's a massive transportation strike in the capital city and there's a super typhoon east of Luzon. Public school classes and government office work have been suspended for the meantime. Whatever the circumstance, I love it when the husband is here because it means that we can have a leisurely breakfast together. I made kimchi fried rice with Spanish chorizo, some eggs over easy, and fried marinated milkfish. Coffee for the husband, barley coffee for me. He ate so much kimchi fried rice that he requested a very late lunch so he could have more time to digest his food. I'll be reading through some myLot discussions after posting this, and then attend to other online tasks and some cleaning chores. How's your Sunday/Monday so far?

I need to find a place that serves milkfish, because I keep seeing it mentioned here, and I'm more than curious. My Sunday was fine. Tomorrow, I see the dentist first thing, and then my pain management doctor. After that, it's grocery shopping. It's all very exciting, isn't it?

You might be able to find marinated milkfish in Filipino restaurants, Asian fusion restaurants or Oriental stores. It's usually deboned, butterflied and fried or ready to fry. It's marinated in vinegar, salt, garlic and peppercorns. Some find the smell a bit revolting but it tastes good once fried. A very exciting Monday indeed. I hope the grocery shopping would at least provide some comfort !

@almostoveryou We have Asian fusion restaurants here, at least. However, I have yet to find a Filipino restaurant near me. We have Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai, but no Filipino. I don't understand that. Yes, the grocery shopping tomorrow might be the highlight of my day!

@AmbiePam Hmmm, how can there be none when Filipinos are practically everywhere in the US? Even I wouldn't understand that. Enjoy your grocery shopping! Do get some comfort food or item or whatever. You deserve it!

For us it was just the other way around We shifted from city life - a small flaat - to living in a semi rural town where I designed my home and it is big (lol)

@almostoveryou I was against keeping our flat in the city. Did not want hassles to having to maintain and visit, etc. But in your case getting back to the Provincial house is a good thing where you can breathe pure air

I'd choose to live in the province any time. I was born and raised in the city and lived there for 30 years. I moved to a rurban area when I got married and enjoy being a country mouse to this day. A semi rural town provides less stress, I would say. So you made a good decision to move. I'm actually quite excited to be living in the city again where I'll be closer to my Mama and some friends. And thankful that we still get to keep this provincial house where we can spend our weekends and vacations. We stay in the city only on weekdays.

@allknowing One can really tell the difference in air quality. After staying for a day in the city, I already developed an allergy. Good thing the apartment that we got is in an area surrounded by trees. I'd be happy to just stay within the vicinity and avoid the major thoroughfares.
