For the first time in five years, Microsoft is finally unveiling a new system for operating personal computers. Beginning Thursday, businesses that buy Windows licenses in bulk have first crack at the new operating system, called Vista. Consumers can get Vista on home PCs beginning January 30. Now the company must persuade PC buyers that the launch really matters to them. Vista is said to make Windows machines more secure, powerful and graphically dynamic. There are various other improvements like helping speed Windows' startup and shutdown times, and to accelerate application launches and a better backup system. But an upgrade is costly for many people. As well as the fact that any new system Windows Vista?

I will upgrade if the upgrade is free. I am quite happy using my Media Center PC so only if Vista comes free to me then I will upgrade. As regards the bugs well I am sure there wil be some keeping Microsoft's track recoed but then they do give all the updates free too!!

WINDOWS VISTA HAS VERY HIGH DEFINING GRAPHICS. ITS FAST AND HAS MANY OTHER ADVANTAGES BUT DO U KNOW THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF RUNNING WINDOWS VISTA ON YOUR MACHINE. 2 GB RAM IT WILL NOT SUPPORT ON BOARD GRAPHICS CARD SO A VERY POWERFUL HIGH GRAPHICS CARD. 200 GB HARD DISK POWERFUL PROCESSOR. ALL THIS WILL PROVE VERY COSTLY,SO MANY PEOPLE WILL NOT GO FOR IT.

there are various versins of Vista just as therewere for XP. The premium version does require very specific hardware but the basic version can be used on a XP machine

Good discusson, I am personally going to wait till I upgrade my computer with a New One. The reasons for this are one I have 3 computers that will need upgraded. all of wich are vista compatable. I will just buy a new pc with Vista on it, which will make it cheeper in the long run. I will probably upgrade 2 of the PC's in December of next year

I don't think so, because Vista will use much more memory than XP actually use. I think all pc which have xp couldn't use vista as well, and windows won't be as secure as linux and too much expensive for a lot of people to upgrade to vista.
