Busy couple of days/dinner

Today was a kind of boring but busy day. We are gearing back up for the school year so I had some things I actually had to get done today. My son needed a new backpack because he is so hard on them. We bought a nicer one two years ago that everyone claimed would last several years it lasted two which is more than the six months the cheaper ones will last if we are lucky. We can't figure out what he is doing that kills them so fast. I went to the shoe store and bought him a FILA one that was on clearance for fifteen dollars I decided to look it up online and see the reviews and it's originally a sixty-dollar backpack. It was on clearance because it's a model behind their newest one. I read a lot of good reviews about it and one bad one so we will see which one seems to hold true for my son. It will at least get him through until I start getting paid again. I then got him a first-day outfit for school for eight dollars. I love clearance racks and my son doesn't care about clothes at all so he'll basically wear whatever. I still need to get him a haircut because he has gotten shaggy. I also picked up a few things for dinner on Sunday and Monday that I forgot the other day. When I got home I made dinner and watched a movie along with some I Love Lucy episodes. After dinner I did up the dishes that were left from dinner that I didn't already do and watched more I Love Lucy until my husband got home and we went on a walk. The walk was cut short when we noticed some lightning off in the distance. We thought we would be ok to finish it but then we heard thunder and power walked our way home. We have had this guy that sits out on his porch by one of the houses we walk by yell out to us during our last two walks so we have been trying to avoid going by that house. He isn't mean or anything but he definitely makes things a little awkward because he's drunk and we never really know what to say to him. He informed us he was "hammered" the other day and wondered if we were too because we were walking at night and we were like we are just walking. It's cooler at night and my husband gets off work late so we walk before he goes to bed. Not a very eventful day but at least I got some stuff done. Dinner was a hit with everyone. I just made pasta with an Alfredo sauce and sauteed some onions and red bell pepper in butter and cooked some kielbasa in butter to give it a little extra flavor and then made a salad for my mom and myself and gave my son some cucumber since he doesn't like salad. I have to do pasta three different ways so I have to separate out the veggies and meat and give my mom pasta without meat since she doesn't like it and my son pasta without veggies since he doesn't like them and made the rest with both for myself and my husband. My son has sensory issues so he gags on some things and my mom gets sick when she eats meat so I end up catering to people but at least with this I just took things out and added them all together later. Tomorrow I think I'm making chicken wraps because they're easier. My son will just eat the tenders without the wrap and my mom will eat a veggie wrap without the meat. I will eat the wrap together. I usually just buy the crispy Tyson chicken strips and then buy flour tortilla shells and on the wrap I add tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, cucumbers, and ranch dressing along with the tenders for myself and my husband when he is home. I have been finding ways to make cheaper meals that everyone will eat and while I have to substitute things for people I am at least not making separate meals. I did a lot of my grocery shopping for the week Thursday and ended up buying Subway for dinner while at Walmart because I hate grocery shopping and then cooking it's a lot of work and I had a lot of errands to run yesterday and my husband hasn't been home to help so I've done everything myself so I splurged and got Subway. The day before we got Rally's which with their meal deals was cheaper than groceries and since my husband had the day off from his second job and had a headache we didn't want to go get groceries and got Rally's instead. Now we are back to eating at home for the next two weeks.

Thanks, I'm always glad when I make something everyone will eat. It can be a chore at times.

I am glad you got that backpack at a good deal and I hope it will last a long time. Every once in a while it is good to have a break form cooking and get a meal out.

Thanks, me too. I love a good clearance. My husband hates that I look at everything until I get a good deal and save money then he is suddenly grateful. It is nice to get a break. I have cooked more than I haven't this summer. I get takeout maybe three or four times a month if I'm lucky. During the school year, we ate out a lot because of our busy schedules we didn't have time to go home and we just went from work to wherever we needed to go.

My mom would have told everyone to fend for themselves (except for her kids) if people were that picky. Obviously, your son is different. They are lucky you are nice enough to do that.
