Computer shutting down with blue screen error

August 12, 2023 2:29am CST
so my computer started shutting down the other day and I immediately concluded that it is an hardware issue. I took it to the computer technician, hoping that I wouldnt have to spend money to replace the hardware. He was able to clean the entire hard disk and restore the computer but the issue still happens occasionally. I discovered it happens with a particular browser.

It almost sounds to me like a Windows update came through that is causing some software conflicts with that browser. Some of the basic steps you can take to troubleshoot these issues are making sure that your Windows updates are current (Start - Settings - Windows Update) and checking that there aren't any optional updates available (also under Windows Update in Settings; for Windows 10 the link should be right at the top of the page, for Windows 11 you usually have to scroll down to Advanced Options, then look for Optional updates under the Additional options heading). If Windows is fully up-to-date, take a look at your browser to see what version you're running. You should find it under Settings - About in the browser. Sometimes older versions can be less stable than the newest releases.
