I always chalked it up to Matt Freeman struggling to play his iconic hits. They did write a lot of songs, Maybe short, but really industry changing things. I mean maybe 1 or 2 minutes long but how do you remember 200 or so riffs like that.
People always wonder why Rancid does not play neat songs that were not more popular in their live concerts. They do sometimes but most of the time is people do not want to hear it. Most of the time the ones that pay money, want to hear the same 12 hits from 1993 and this is why a lot of musicians question their choice in life.
This right here is amazing and you will never hear it live. Is that not a travesty? The crowd has to overwhelming ask them to play it and if they do not, they will not ever play it.

I blame the radio for that. The radio only promotes one or two songs from each album as "hits" to get people to buy the album. Although many other songs on the album should have also been promoted the only time you hear them is when you play the album or watch the video on youtube. Bands are pressed to play their most popular songs only, sometimes having to do covers of songs they did not write.

Thats pretty much it but its also a lot of work for the band when they switch songs so I understand. Why they do summer tours and what not this is in our range and we can switch it a bit. I mean I am not a musician but these guys been writing music since like 16 and in mid to late 50's, for them to remember every song they wrote like a light bulb, people need to understand thats just not possible. I mean kind of a switch but some are pretty hard songs to play even for a punk band. and they write so many.
