How time flies. India got freedom from British rule in 1947 and it's only 76 years since the British left. There have been momentous changes and at the moment India has the fifth-largest economy in the world and by the end of next year it may very well have the third-largest economy.
Another victory of sorts is that an Indian-origin man Mr. Rishi Sunak is now the Prime Minister of England. England comparatively is in dire straits with a tottering economy and requesting for a free trade agreement with India.
India has a long way to go as still a large number of people are living in poverty, but there is no doubt that India is on the ascendant with the third biggest and most powerful military in the world and the only country after the United States and China to operate two aircraft carriers.
As a man who served in the Indian arm forces, I feel very patriotic when I think of today's Independence Day which is the 15th of August. I hope my friend can join me in this.
