Before I close my curtain for tonight, let me share one of my teen students who bought a balisong," or buttefly knife, online. I was surprised that he was playing with it while having class with me. I told him about the possible danger and how it might hurt him. I cannot believe that his parents supported him for having it, which they considered a toy.
How would you react seeing a teenage boy playing with this inappropriate thing?

@wolfgirl569 I can be sure that it wasn't made of plastic. But it is not a sharp one.

I don't care if he carries it outside of school, but having it inside school should be against the rules. You cannot count on teenagers behaving responsibly with a knife AT school. Sure, most might be harmless with one, but it just takes one to misbehave.
Outside of school, if my teenager behaved well, I would let him have one. But, I wouldn't advocate taking it out to show people. It is not a toy no matter what people think.
