Gospel Truth: Why is the truth of Genesis important to the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from our sins. But what is sin and where does it come from? Sin is rebellion against God. It's doing things God told you not to do, and not doing things that God told you that you should do. So, in Genesis we learn that Adam was the first man, and that he was pure and sinless. In the Garden of Eden, God told Adam and his wife Eve that they could eat of the fruit of any of the trees, except one. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If they ate of that tree they would die. But then Satan, in the guise of a serpent, tempted Eve with the fruit of thst tree, and she ate and offered it to Adam and he ate it too. That was the first sin. Because of that sin, we all have inherited original sin and we all need a saviour. But you may be asking, they were told they would die, why didn't they immediately die after they sinned? Well, the Hebrew says dying you will die meaning as soon as they sinned the process of dying would begin. Now, as the Bible says everything was perfect, and there was no death before Adam sinned, there could not have been any death or suffering before that. So the claims that there were millions of years of death and suffering before Adam undermines the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because the Bible says that death came through one man (Adam) and through one man (Jesus) we can be saved from death. Also, if evolution was true, and man descended from an ape like ancestor, there would have been no Adam, and no original sin, and therefore Jesus died for no mans sin and for no reason. So that completely undermines the gospel. So, the truth of Genesis is very important to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

That's an interesting concept isn't it? Does that mean that before Adam and Eve, all the plants and animals lived forever too? And then they also had to pay the price for mankind's original sin?

@just4him indeed they do, some in only a few hours. And if humans didn't die, did they still age? So they just got older and older forever? Or were Adam and Eve created as adults and they just stayed that way ever afterwards?

@Fleura They were created as adults. I think they would have aged, but I don't know.

@Fleura That's my thought. God created Adam and Eve to have someone to talk to. When they sinned, then children were born.

According to Genesis chapter 3 (this is from the Bible Gateway): 21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So that implies that in fact Adam and Eve did not yet have the potential to live forever, and at that point they were denied the opportunity to acquire it.
