English postgraduates and TOFEL & IELTS

Students or professionals who go abroad to study and work have to clear the TOFEL or IELTS. However, recently some online English teaching websites are insisting on a TOFEL or IELTS certificate even if you are a postgraduate in English. I think this is nothing but a trick to earn money.
As English postgraduate students have to study extensively not only the language but the literature of different cultures like UK, US, Scotland, France etc. It's not easy to get a postgraduate degree. Studying about different literature the students develop a good standard of expressing themselves in English whether spoken or written.
These websites usually ask for a introduction video and I think that's enough to judge someone's standard of English.
For handling students you need both expertise in English as well as the techniques of teaching.

This does sound like a trick.. It's unnecessary. TOEFL scores are valid for five years only.

These tests are just related to language and have very little of literature. Every five years insisting for a new TOFEL score is nothing but a wicked way to earn money.

@aninditasen Yes, I wrote my GRE and TOEFL in 2001. The score is valid for five years. I am not sure about the current thing.

@arunima25 If you want to work abroad it will work. It's useless if you work in India. I saw the question papers as my younger son is preparing but he got appointed abroad without it.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, unjust. Educated people are sitting idle these days struggling to make to ends meet.

Highly educated people are therefore finding it hard to get a well paid job.

It sounds like a lot of work for little reward.

Yes, that's true. If you are talking of TOFEL & IELTS then the labour is not worth for only online teaching being a postgraduate but the labour we put in for a postgraduation degree is worth it.

This wouldn’t be appealing to some. It sounds like a lot of effort.

Yes it is and why put effort on something only to earn peanuts and sometimes nothing.

@Tampa_girl7 Yes, it is and if we don't protest as teachers this will go on for ever.
