She's a bit lonely.

Although I live in the Suburbs, it's not far to go to find open fields and there's plenty of large gardens, parks and allotments around here. I've seen all sorts of birds and we regularly get Tawny Owls in the neighbourhood. We've got one currently who is female. She's lonely. We know she's lonely because she spends a couple of hours a night announcing this hoping there's a lonely male owl out there looking for love. I don't know if any of you are familiar with the kind of love songs a female tawny owl likes to sing but it's quite distinctive. When she was calling last night my husband was actually concerned there was a distressed child outside (at 11 pm). If any of you know of a male tawny send him this way so we can get some peace!

not bein' familiar with this sort'a owl, i did a search. seems she'd not be lookin' fer a mate 's much's defendin' her territory. says they do such coz they're territorial, sedentary birds 'f prey. breedin' season 'tis not 'til early spring.

I hope the poor thing isn't too lonely.
