Yeah, I know. Just when you think it’s safe to open an internet browser, THIS SONG attacks you. I’m sorry. However, when it’s comes to songs that’ll make you laugh this one is right up there….not so much the song itself but the context it’s been used in.
Mah Nà Mah Nà - Piero Umiliani
Yeah, I know. Muppets. In actuality, though, this didn’t originate with the Muppets. Sesame Street had its fuzzy characters, ahem, “sing” the song a month after Red Skelton started using it on his show.
Then Benny Hill used it.
The commercials used it.
Then The Muppet Show used it.
This is the original. Its composer/performer, Piero Umiliani, had a career as a film score composer. Looking at the list of movies he provided music for, he’d be long forgotten had it not been for this song, which debuted in a cheesy “documentary” about Sweden’s sex scene. Well, he is long forgotten, but this song lives on!

Most people do know it from the Muppets using it. Unless you’re old and remember Red Skelton using it.
