The New Aurora Teagarden Mysteries with a young Aurora

Tonight, K and I watched the first of the new Hallmark Aurora Teagarden Mystery: Something New. This is the first of the new movies that take place years before the movies with Candace Cameron Bure. Skyler Samuels plays the young Aurora and fills the role well. Evan Roderick, as the young Arthur, does a good job and is believable in the role. The one bit of casting I think they got wrong was Kayla Heller as Sally. Heller is a decent enough actress for the Hallmark Channel, but she doesn't seem credible as a young version of Sally. And Marilu Henner, who reprises her role as Aida, is difficult to watch between the makeup and other steps they used to try and take 10 to 15 years off her age. The movie itself was not as predictable as one might expect from a Hallmark Mystery. There were a couple of surprises at the end. If you're a fan of Hallmark Mysteries, you will enjoy this one. Do you like mystery movies? Do you like Hallmark movies?

Mystery movies/shows are almost always on at our home. We don't subscribe to Hallmark though. Once in awhile SlingTv will offer it free for a week or so and I may go watch something.

Hallmark Movies Now is one of the streaming services we subscribed to after cutting cable because K likes so many of the movie series on the channel.

@DWDavis We when left cable/satellite services for our Roku, we decided we would only subscribe to one streaming service and Sling TV was what we chose. It has the basic cable channels we watched for the most part for way less than what we had been paying before. We could upgrade to the higher package to get Hallmark channels but not many other channels on that tier interests us and we see no reason to pay more to get 3 more channels. I know the Roku channel and Pluto each have Hallmark movies and shows on it now, but the older ones not the newer ones. Maybe in a few months or so the series will be shown and I can catch it there.

I like mystery but not Hallmark. I don’t know what it is about them but they don’t feel right to me.

I understand. In most of them, the police investigative procedures are a joke, and the amateur sleuths get away with things that should land them in jail. But it's all in good fun.

We watch every new Hallmark holiday special and rewatch our favorites from the past during the appropriate season.

Hallmark is our go-to viewing when we want a romance or a not-so-grisly mystery.

I'm not big on mysteries or Hallmark movies. Thank you for the review and critique. Have a good weekend.
