Monday morning to y’all! I have to get to work on next month’s theme. Meanwhile it’s time for another chuckle, and this song is the only one on the list that made it one the basis one ONE LINE. Here we go. She’s Hot to Go - Lyle Lovett Linda? This is more swing than country, so you might be able to tolerate it. Lyle Lovett has a marvelous sense of humor on display in his songs. This isn’t the only song of his that could be on this list (nor the only song from this album…nor from side two of the album!). Here Lovett is admiring a woman from behind. He decides he wants a closer look, so he gets in front of her to face her…. And the fun begins. “She was ugly from the front, she was ugly from the front.” But the punch line comes from backup singer Francine Reed. When Lovett starts a “this girl was so ugly” joke she stops him dead in his tracks. “Well, you’re ugly, too!” Truer words have never appeared in a song.
