I enjoy donating my time to charity and when I can, money too. In October I participated in the Making Strides Against "female anatomy" (wouldn't allow me to post the word as it's consided mature content - lol) Cancer walk a thon for the fifth time. This particular charity is near and dear to my heart as I have an aunt who is a "female anatomy" cancer survivor. I also feel strongly that any money raised at these events goes to cancer research which can be used to battle all cancers, not just "female anatomy" cancer. In fact, the first year I walked in honor of a very close friend who had been diagnosed with lung cancer. In years past, our family has also donated to public television as we feel very strongly about the benefits of their programming. We are very caution with what shows our children are allowed to watch on tv and the local public television station has always been a safe haven of good quality, fun and educational programs. These are only a few of the charities we support. How have you helped in your community and why are the charities you chose important to you?

Good for you. May Good bless you more. I as of now, I can only donate time for teaching. Hope, this one will count.

Absolutely teaching counts. So many of our children would suffer without those who donate their time to mentoring/tutoring programs and other teaching activities. Thank you for what you do.

Thank you for responding. There are many charity organizations who would welcome the donation of time as well so if you can't donate money, maybe you could help out with other things. Just a thought.

A friend and myself do a local American Cancer Society walk every year. We've been doing it for several years now. We both make our personal donations to the walk as well as try and raise money from other people. Last year we setup an online store where all profits from the store get donated at the time of the walk. So far the store has been doing pretty good. Both of us know a lot of people affected by cancer, so it is important to us to help out as much as possible. You can check out the store at http://www.cafepress.com/supportcancer
