It’s time for the top ten in this month of songs that I found humorous. That’s not saying you will find them funny, but I did. So, before I go sightseeing today I’ll give you the first one in the top ten. #10: Amos Moses - Jerry Reed Well, Jerry laughed through the song, too. Probably not that “funny” of a song, lyrically. I mean a guy who’d “tie a rope around his neck and throw him in the swamp” to his son isn’t funny. Nor is losing an arm (“left arm gone clean up tot the elbow”) to an alligator bite. But it’s in the delivery. I mean, if Jerry Reed had done “God Bless America” this way you’d be laughing. The interesting thing is that this wasn’t Reed’s “natural” voice. He actually could sing, and quite well (the title song from this album, “Georgia Sunshine,” proved that, as did “A Thing Called Love”). But, for better or worse, he got pigeonholed into this type of delivery after the success of “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot.” And I’m sure he cried all the way to the bank. Amos Moses Written by Jerry Reed Recorded by Jerry Reed From Georgia Sunshine, 1970 Named him after a man of the cloth:

This song is hilarious. There is a video that goes with the song, a video done by Jerry Reed.

Oh, man, Jerry as “pretty wife Hannah” and the preacher at the end!! That’s funnier than the song! Son!

JJ and I always talk about how we thought he saw saying “Tippy Toe, Louisiana” instead of Thibodeaux.

Hardly “country music,” and Reed was such a great guitar player.
