Winter Cheyne was a child bride sold for the price of a gambling debt. After years of abuse, she knew breaking free of him would be deadly, but it was a chance she had to take. Doctor Jedidiah Raintree had spent the last twenty years looking for his childhood friend, Winter. Where he didn't expect to find her was huddled in his cabin, injured and afraid. Hidden inside her were the secrets she was being hunted for. Hidden inside him was the strength she would need to find them and be free. Hidden in their past was the key to their destiny. First, they had to survive the next three days. ~~~~ It's not very often I give a romance novel 5 stars, but this one had me crying through the last two chapters. Katie Mettner writes very inclusive novels. In this story we learn about Native American customs as Winter and Jedidiah both lived on an Indian Reservation as children. Our author had to do some research for this one. An added tidbit is that Winter Rain is Winter's author name. She writes romance novels. So anyone who loves a story about books and/or writers might enjoy this as well. Because of the intrigue at the beginning of the novel when Winter is escaping from her abusive captor, I think even non-romance readers would like this novel. If you get a chance to read this novel, do it. It's quick read at only 214 pages and short chapters. Highly recommend.

As an FYI, she is an amputee. This is one of the reasons she writes books that are inclusive. A previous book of hers I reviewed has a main character who is an amputee.
