Day 71 Luke 13:10 He taught in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And a woman was there with a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years and was bent over and could not raise herself up. 12 When Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” 13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight and glorified God. 14 The ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore, come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 Then the Lord answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each of you loose his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it to water on the Sabbath? 16 So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” 17 When He said these things, His adversaries were put to shame; and the multitude rejoiced for the glorious things done by Him. Do rules and traditions bind you so that you take offense when someone does something you think they shouldn’t? Or do you celebrate because of the freedom to enjoy life without restrictions? Jesus healed a woman on the Sabbath. When the rulers of the synagogue saw what He did, they reprimanded Him and told the people to come on the other six days for healing, not on the Sabbath. Instead, Jesus called them hypocrites because they did humane acts on the Sabbath. He did the same. He healed a woman who had an infirmity for eighteen years, a woman bound by Satan. When the people heard His rebuke, they rejoiced for the glorious things He did. Many Christians are bound by traditions. They do things in a certain way and won’t deviate from how and when they do things. When someone comes along and suggests something different, they take offense because they always did it that way. Yet, Jesus freed you from traditions. He showed you that rules and traditions don’t bind you. Don’t let Satan bind you to your traditions. Take the bindings off and let faith take hold. You will feel the freedom only found in Jesus when you set traditions aside. Joy will fill you just as it did the woman Jesus loosed from her infirmity. You can stand up straight with your head lifted high, knowing Jesus freed you from long-held traditions. Let’s pray: Father, help me take the bindings off my traditions. Loose me from the hold they have on me. Let my faith arise as I rejoice in the freedom You give me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. I remember when the very first big box store opened up on a Sunday. Everyone was shocked. Now everything is open on Sunday. Thank you for the Bible study and have a blessed day.

It's sad what they did to change Sunday from a day of worship and praise to God to a day without Him. Have a blessed day.

I remember with fondness when all stores were closed on Sundays and it just felt more like a holy day that way,
