Joe Donnell who is 55 years of age is going to awarded the Carnegie Medal in Kamas Utah which is awarded by the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission for his actions of saving the life of then nine year old Paxton Knight who was submerged into the Morehouse Reservoir when a truck he was with his family in August 22, 2022. Joe was riding in a kayak close to the area of the accident knew that he had to do what is right and jump into the river and break open the door of the family van that was underwater for a period of 10 minutes which could have been fatal for Paxton if he had not been rescued by Joe. Joe was able to get Paxton out of the van to the surface and give him CPR to revive him. Then Paxton was taken by a helicopter to a local hospital where Paxton made a complete recovery. Joe mentioned that a close friend reported his good deed. Joe and Paxton have become very good friends as well as Paxton's relatives for the actions of Joe in that incident last year. That is very true since Joe will tell anyone just because he is no longer working as a ranger it does not mean that saving the life of anyone he will not stand by and allow someone under his watch if he can help it.
