Greg Chappell Coaching & Ram Dev Comments

India

Yesterday Swami Ramdev has openly come out against criminals ruling us at Jabalpur. Greg Chappell was far more reserved in his comments that were universal in nature. Our Parliamentarians didn’t say a word against Ram Dev for they have no credibility to counter him. It is well known they actually collect money to ask questions in parliament on long-term contracts. Their affidavits list long crime history. They are labeled as touts and commission agents of corrupt and criminals. But to me they are absolute “Dullards”. I have written too much already so I focus on coaching in sports. Greg Chappell is an excellent coach and was selected on the basis of detailed presentation and interviews. Within days of taking over he made Indian team most formidable in the world. Indian record of about 18 wins in chasing targets testifies his credentials. All his experiments to induct Pathan and Dhoni one down were instant success. I actually coached an 18 months old kid in less than 15 minutes he was hitting the ball, playing with plastic bat and ball. On noticing the sporting talent in the child I wanted to know he could develop mind and eye coordination to hit the ball. All I did was to bowl at same length and line let him develop mental note of the flight of ball and hit it correctly. The response was unbelievable. Task cut out before Greg Chappell is to refine batting and bowling technique of players, give them confidence, iron out their deficiencies like fielding and train players as pinch hitters to score fast runs, reduce the run rate required and wear out new ball. Why out of form Sehwag and Tendulkar were played in opening positions? I don’t think Chappell wanted out of form, fitness and practice players to be inducted in to the side. Everything went fine India climbed the ranking and could beat any team particularly chasing the target. But the day he wanted to remove out of form Saurav Ganguly with indications to go after non-performing players including Tendulkar and Sehwag, team ganged up to defeat him. Is it not incredible that both hit shots right in to the hands of players when there were huge gaps left and right of the catchers? It was criminal to slash over packed slip fielders in the case of Sehwag and even worse was for Tendulkar to hit the ball into the hands of mid wicket when there was no other player behind or on both sides in slog overs. There is very little Chappell can do when our players are not interested in practice and performing and get paid much more without performing and playing and absenting from first class matches. Chappell these days is basically fulfilling the contract like any professor or teachers do in case students are not interested in learning. In the era of bowling machines and video slow motions etc even I can train them to first class form provided they are willing play. I will put 10 bowling machines and put all the players to at least three hours of intensive batting practice followed by 10 over games every day.
