So, after enjoying all 4 seasons of Succession I needed more of the same so tried Billions, a similar sort of high finance, highly rated TV drama. Billions has been around a while and, I guess, it was the success of Billions that led to Succession . Its centered around the battle of wits between mega rich maverick hedge-fund manager Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and New York District Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) , the latter determined to prosecute Axelrod for whatever sticks. He knows he's corrupt but cant yet prove it. Its complicated by Rhoades beautiful wife Wendy (Maggie Siff), her husbands confident but also works for Axelrod as the company performance coach and head shrink, motivating the traders and managers to make even more money, turning a blind eye to his methods. She knows her husbands tactics to go after her boss but also her bosses secrets. This tryst begins to break down trust between all concerned as we move through season one as Rhoades begins to build the case against Axel, often as duplicitous at doing that as the scheming hedge fund boss is who will do pretty much anything to protect Axel Capital and his loyal traders. . Its smart but not too cerebral so should not scare away people who quake at the thought of The West Wing box-set. Its witty and sharp and well acted by all, especially Giamatti , career defining as the patriotic and diligent District Attorney. Its a breeze for Lewis as his narcissistic character is no more than that. Maggie Siff is just hot and hard to take your eyes off her on screen. I would watch this just for its rhythm and humor and you will breeze through season one its that entertaining , streaming and DVD available in the U.K. Its still making shows today so I have six more seasons to work through.

Is Billions really that good? I have been planning on binge watching the series but I am a bit skeptical that is going to disappoint me. I know to each person his/her own taste but what do you feel?
