Today is the last day of Durga Puja and its called Bijoya Dhasami as it signifies success of good over evil. On this day Lord Ram was successful in wining the war against Ravan and according to religious scriptures too Devi Durga killed all the asuras ( demons) and returns victorious to Khailash where her husband Lord Shiva stays. Since it's Tuesday today there won't be any immersion of idols but the effigy of Ravana was burnt which signifies the destruction of all evils.
Wishing all my friends a prosperous life ahead with the blessings of Devi Durga.

Good for him killing and defeating demons, as it should be.
I wish you a very good Devi Durga also.
Thank you for sharing this history of it to us Anindita.

The Durga puja has ended and I enjoyed the festivity, pomp and show. Diwali is coming and many other pujas will be continuing till Diwali.

@RebeccasFarm Most people living abroad do like and enjoy Indian festivals. Many foreigners do come to India to watch the durga puja, especially Kolkata.
