A long semestral break

I can't remember the last time my husband and kids had a long semestral break. For the past several years, it would last for only 4 or 5 days. This year, it's going to be for 10 days! The girls were off from school since Thursday and they'll return on November the 6th. I so welcome this break too. I've been neck-deep in chores since the academic year began in August. Not that I'd have less chores this time -- though I'm pretty sure that for maybe like a week I'd be less harried. And I should be able to get up a little later than 5 a.m. We've booked a hotel in Tagaytay City for a bit of R&R. We leave on the 30th. I miss breathing fresh country air and smelling the mountain breeze. I plan to do some plant shopping and fruit shopping during our trip. I also asked the husband to bring us to the Pink Sisters convent for prayers and petitions -- and for some delicious breads and pastries. (Those nuns make the best purple yam and coconut tarts!!) Now let's just hope that Taal Volcano won't send off some vog while we're there. How do/did you usually spend term break?

I'm glad you will have some R&R. I used to spend spring break and summer vacation reading. I used to do a ton of reading. Have a good vacation.

I did the same thing way back when, Linda. I didn't care much about TV. I'd rather curl up with a book during school breaks.

@LindaOHio I hope you do. It's now a challenge for me to be away from the Internet. Reading helps me detox from so much online information.

It has been so long since I have been in school that I don’t really remember what we did on our breaks. My parents still had to work, so my sister and I would entertain each other unless we were going out of town for Thanksgiving or Christmas break to visit relatives.

Same here. We would usually just stay home and rest. Sometimes I'd spend time at the mall just to do some window shopping and to be away from family.

If I have the chance, I just only spend my time with the immediate family.

I prefer that too. So far we're all still together during term breaks. It may not be like so when my girls are in college already.
