If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no point in being a damn fool about it. -------------W. C. Fields When there's no getting over that rainbow. When your smallest of dreams won't come true. When you drive your Chevy to the levee but the levee is dry. When the overwhelming preponderance of your fan mail reads like this: Sir, you're always not long enough but your technique is fine, and your biggest problem is that you don't write nearly enough about stupid, boring, American Politics. What do you do? While I can't speak for you...Unless you sign up for my newest Side Hustle, coming soon to a computer near you, SpeakEasy.com. "I do the talking, so you don't have to." More details on that, later... I can speak for my friend, George Santos. And, to a lesser degree, for myself. When all, or at least most, of the calamities listed above, happen to George, over and over and over and over again, and on and on, he doesn't give up. Each time he finds himself flat on his face, he picks himself up and gets back in the race. Even if and when his own Congressional Caucus tells him, "Tell your maw, tell your pa, I'm gonna send you back to Arkansas." ((Editor's Note: As far as we know, he has never claimed to be from Arkansas, but it's only a matter of time until he does. And, even if he doesn't, Arkansas is as good as any other place to send him)) He will not give up. Even if his ultimate destination is a Federal Prison in Arkansas. Because he is Ultra-MAGA. And Ultra-MAGA does not quit. They keep trying until they win. No matter how humiliating, futile and pointless it is. Will 2024 see us having a sitting Congressman and sitting President serving their constituents while sitting in jail? It could happen. We live in very interesting times. #SinceThisMightNotBeTheDayThatIDie,PleasePassTheWhiskyAndRye ************** Santos to run for reelection even if expelled and downplays past lies Story By Clare Foran and Aaron Pellish, CNN 19h

Unlike what Karen Carpenter said (and you partially quoted), I think I will last a day without them. Seriously, to answer your question, consider people like Ted Kennedy and Marion Barry, one of whom was convicted and one of whom should have been, who were continually re-elected. Remember that movie Escape From New York, where they turned NYC into a maximum security prison? Maybe we should do that for DC.

I still love her ((Disclaimer: I really like some Carpenters songs but I'm not a big fan of them as a group. Richard is an excellent keyboardist and Karen, well, I'm going to talk a little about her). Did you know...Well, of course, you know, but for everyone else who doesn't know, she most wanted to be a baseball player. Which she couldn't do because she was a girl. The other thing she most wanted to do was be a professional drummer. Which she couldn't do because she was a girl. So she became a singer. And knocked it out of the park. Even on the songs I don't like, which is most of them, her singing was great. And she was allowed to play drums on TV once in a while. Back to the reason we're here, I agree with you. We'll all last a day without them. And I never thought of Ted and Marion but you're right and it's scary, We have precedent for what might happen. I do remember "Escape From New York" and I also agree that DC would make a swell prison.

And what's so horrible is that it could actually happen. It's all unbelievable.

If you put it in a screenplay, no producer would buy it because it's too unreal.

@xander6464 I think you’re right. It’s just too ridiculous.
