No Fall here

No Fall here and so no coloured leaves but this is the time when the trees shed their leaves. The whole ground is strewn with dried leaves. The gardener is kept busy collecting them and putting them in the incinerator but with rains this activity is hampered. Just waiting for the weather to become normal so that all the leaves are collected and the ground is cleared. What do you do with the dried leaves?

I don't do anything with them, but some people use them for mulch around plants here. Here in my place, the lawn guys come and blow them away with their blowers.

When I lived in a house we covered the garden with dry leaves. Here at the apartment complex care takers blow then off the parking lots and trails into rhe woods.

Usually, the maintenance people at my apartment complex just leave them where they are. I love watching them turn colors this time of year.

@allknowing No, they just leave them. The wind usually blows them away in a few days.

How long do they keep them there as they will surely need to be cleared?

We leave them laying. Many bugs including the good ones, lay their eggs on them. Plus they break down over the winter and fertilize the ground

I do not think we can leave them on the ground as there will be heaps and walking on them may not be quite safe.

@allknowing You could rake the ones in the way up and burn. But leave the rest or compost them instead of burning. That still lets the bugs have what they need
