Lucia - 6.5/10 Lucia in three episodes. Of course, the first two were not during Castro's time, so it was decadent, horrible. In the third episode, of course, you hear "Guantanamera" which is one step above "La Cuckaracha", and then in the end, they play it with European instruments -- violins, timpanis. I thought they wanted their own way, away from Spain/Europe. But in the last episode, there was a shift. The director must have wanted to piss off Castro, because it's showing the government taking over a newlywed. "She must learn to read". They didn't ask either of them if she even wanted to read, but then the husband, who is the machisimo type, says, "Fine, but he's not sleeping in my house" which I thought was reasonable, but no, Flavio, the head guy from the government says he sleeps in your house, "like all of us".. And then this little teacher whispers when the husband falls asleep, "You should leave him" and he's abusive, but at one point she even tells the group of old hens "But I love him the way he is"... Don't go with instinct and just follow whatever the group decides? And I don't know if this was some joke, but they keep repeating "Your girlfriend is so beautiful" but she's hideous. The husband is jealous as she dances with some guy. It's repeated over and over, and all I can think is, "Satire?", especially after some Christian imagery (Cuba was officially Atheist, despite everyone being Catholic). Probably the worst case to be made for Cuba's system. But Americans are led to believe only the wrong country censors. Surely, there aren't movies showing the British (or a new group) taking over the US with glee. YouTube has by far the best movies. And this is probably the least best movie in their bunch.
