I called the Health Center and told them what I was told by the cardiology people. The lady I spoke to said they'd sent the referral on such and such date, and she gave me the phone number where they'd sent it, and it was the same number I'd called--evidently the referral didn't get through. The lady told me she sent it again, and to call the cardiology place again in a couple of hours. So, I'm going to go and take my meds, brush my teeth and go for a walk, and sometime after I get back--actually, maybe after lunch--I'll call the cardiology place again!
