How much are you willing to pay for a book?

I like to get my hands on the cheapest edition I can in the best condition at that price. If the words in the book are the same as a more expensive one, I’m getting a better value, in my opinion. Then if it’s a story that becomes really important to me I might consider upgrading to a “nicer” or collectors version, and keep the old ones as lender books.

For me, it all depends on the book. My current Kindle book wishlist on Amazon has about 70 titles on it last I counted. Most of those are older books that I've already read and/or own/used to own a physical copy of, so I'm not in a hurry to buy them. I stick to a fairly firm limit of $1.99 for those, but there was one that I nabbed for $2.99 because I wanted to read it again a few months ago. For the new and newish releases on the list, I'll go as high as $14.99 or so if I'm not willing to wait a while until the price drops. I'm only like that with books for me, though... if my kids want a book, they tend to get the book regardless of what the price is.

The most I have ever paid for a book is $25. With my income, I can’t pay more than that. I remember my late mom found a collector’s version of a book my dad loved as a child, and she paid $100. That was actually a good deal, and now it is worth $600. He’d never sell it though.

These days not a lot. I don't really know what the most I ever paid for a book was for myself...paid a flipping fortune for textbooks in college, but most of that didn't come out of my pocket fortunately.

Not true, if there is multiple edition the original will be way more. Yes, the condition of it will change its princes but a newer edition will have changes, so the words might not be the same as the first original edition. Me I don't really buy physical books so I don't have to worry about the pricing so much since the things I like to read would never coast the same as some of the classics.
