I've surfaced from the basement. I've spent a good hour cleaning the basement. Picking up my kid's toys and whatever trash is down there. I know you going to say Shouldn't your kids clean the basement if they made it a mess? I do agree with you and any other day I would force them to clean it whether they liked it or not.
Sometimes I make a mom's decision and clean it myself this way I can toss what needs to be tossed. Pick up toys the kids may or may not need to keep and make them go through it.
Right now the kids are doing their other household chores. Like cleaning their bedrooms. Making sure their clothes are put away and not across the floor and doing some other chores that they do regularly.

It sounds like you've been quite busy, and I appreciate the effort you're putting into maintaining your home. Cleaning the basement and managing household chores can be quite a task, especially with kids.
I hope they appreciate the effort you're putting into keeping the house organized and learn from your example.

Indeed it is a task. I usually end up cleaning something once a day. I try not to on the weekend but sometimes even that needs to be. Over I am a stay-at-home parent but my kids also forget I spend 6 hours a day taking care of my writing. Being an author can be equally busy and I try to back in as much as I can during the school week.

@wiLLmaH Lol zero organization skills are required to do either or or both. I'm an independ author so I can set things up however I need to. No deadlines I must meet.
As for tips, write whenever, were ever. If you have a busy life then set up a time where you work for an hour whether that is the last hour before you go to bed, or maybe your free time is at lunch you can eat and work. I don't have a schedule since I'm independent I pretty much work whenever I want for however long I want to work for. Most of the time I write those 6 hours my kids are at school. That doesn't mean I actually write the full 6 hours it might be off and one as I do other things around the house or around when ideas pop in my head.

@ShyBear88 Being a stay-at-home parent and an author must be a juggling act, but it sounds like you're doing an amazing job of it! It must require some fantastic organizational skills!
Do you have any tips for fellow writers on how to carve out writing time amidst a busy schedule?

I used to do the same thing. I had a toy room and the kids sometimes would leave toys all over so I would go in there and threw away all broken toys.

Right. I do the same thing, especially in the basement. Board game things even up everywhere. The kids will hold on to a lot of things that have zero use anymore. This time I found a lot of blankets and shocks. The toys that are up will go down to the basement. I have 2 bags ready for donation that I'll drop off tomorrow before I get groceries.
