Is a college degree really all that it's hyped up to be?

I've been in a lot of contemplation lately. Should I get my college degree now or should I just work and take some time away. Nowadays they say that you need a college degree, but you really need to have a college degree to have a good paying job or is it just to get your foot in the doorway to a good career?
Let me know what you think. I've thought about it enough and I have no reasonable conclusion.

That's a funny way to put it. I can guarantee that I could out-test and outwork anybody at McDonald's, and more than likely in one in this damn town of mine that gets paid $100k a year. It's kind of frustrating, but maybe a book will fall of my bookshelf and onto my head and I'll figure it out.

Have you noticed anybody accelerating more quickly in your workplace with a degree, even though they do not do the job as well as you? That's the only thing I'm worried about. Even when I worked in pizza places, it always made me angry to see these idiots get paid more than me, even when I could do the job twice as well and twice as fast. I'd hate to see how I'd react in a career setting.
