Woodpecker

We used to have many woodpeckers pecking at trees in our garden. Of late I have seen none It is a good sign as it is only when they spot a dead bark that they get to peck at it Woodpeckers are pretty birds but not seeing them is a good thing. I sometimes wonder what they are looking for in dead barks They make huge holes in them and perhaps would want to lay eggs Never seen a woodpecker laying a nest anywhere. Have you seen woodpecker nests?
