Good morning.

Less than a week and I think I'm finally getting our new (for now) normal down. I've managed to give George a tube feed, complete with water flush and morning meds. He did better on his dinner last night, even though I have left overs. At least I don't feel like anything is wasted. Chilly is begging for breakfast, but has to wait a bit. I also got the laundry going, too. So, while I wait for it (and PT to show up) I have time to sit at the computer. George is outside.I can spy on him through the cameras, so I don't have to glue myself to him all of the time.

Yeah. And, now getting up before ten doesn't feel like a chore.

@just4him Yeah. I've learned to adapt as he does. And, he's not sleeping the day away. He did a lot of that in the hospital.

Sounds like things are as good as can be expected. Is he able to eat regular food at all? Is the eventual goal to wean him off the tube?

He is on what's considered a machinical soft diet with nector thick liquids. Ideally, we want to wean him off the tube... but we're trying to build him up to a more reasonable and healthy weight, first. Prior to the stroke he was a reasonable 103. He was down to 809 at his post-hospital checkup.

Take care of yourself while you are taking care of your husband.

The idea that you can watch George through the cameras probably helps HIM emotionally, too, giving the feeling that he’s getting better and doesn’t need 24/7 attention the way he did two months ago.
Poor Chilly…not the top cat right now!

No, but he's getting used to the new normal. And, he gets plenty of lap cat time when I'm not running around doing house chores.

Glad to hear he is slowly forming a new kind of normal for himself and can get outside too,
