Good afternoon.

It was a long night. George didn't oversleep, in fact he was awake an hour earlier than usual. Downside, I had a huge mess to clean up. And, he wonders why I bought a four pack of padding for our bed. I have the one pad and the laundry in the washer. Might have to do a second load today. Joys of dealing with the fall out of a stroke. George is tired, doesn't feel like doing much, but one day at a time. He's alive, he's home, and if that means a little extra work for me, so be it.

I suffered my own health challenges. I still do today. I also grew up with termenally ill parents, who I lost barely into adulthood. I know a lot more than I care to. But, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I won't like the water bill, but I needed to wash the bedding anyway. It was already part of the plan.

@RebeccasFarm Yeah, nothing we can't handle. Bying products I never thought I would have to buy.

I know you feel grateful and prefer the extra work to the alternative. I never minded doing for my elderly aunt, and I wish she were still here for me to do for!

I am sure you miss her a lot. I know the words are shallow, but she's in a better place. It was also kind and caring of you to care for her, too. I'm sure she'll be greatful for that.

@kaylachan — they aren’t shallow words. I “lost” my aunt the day I went to the nursing home and she thought I was my mother, not recognizing ME at all. That’s what Alhzeimer’s does…it robs you twice. I’m a firm believer in God, and I KNOW she’s in a better place!!!
And I know that sometimes you will want to catch your breath and have a “me moment.” Don’t feel guilty about that!

I don't feel much like a carer. I still feel like a wife. Just with extra laundry.

When a dear one is home after lot of suffering we do feel relieved though we have a lot extra work to do.

Being a caregiver is tough work; but doing it for someone you love is so worthwhile. Wishing you and George the best.

I could never be a caregiver for a stranger. I would only do it for George because I love him so much. And, sure, more house work for me, but it's well worth it.
